The question of whether or not a waterfront pier and boat deck project at the end of Mill Street in Bristol Borough will begin constructed before the end of 2015 is up in the air.
Bids that were revealed recently came in over budget. However, the bids were less than the first set of bids that came in last year.

With four bids received, PKF Mark III came in the lowest with a price tag of $2.27 million to complete the full project. Their bid for a reduce scope project came in second at $2.07 million.
Simpson and Brown, Atlantic Subseas Inc. and Marine Technologies were other companies that bid on the project, which already has more than $2.5 million in funding lined up.
Despite the funding locked in, $500,000 of the $2.5 million has already gone to engineering and permit fees, Borough Manager James Dillion said.

Engineers and borough officials are receiving several options, some include waiting until later this year to see if more grant funding is available or reducing the scope of the project.
Bristol officials have called the project “an anchor to the future” for the historic riverside town. With more businesses, events and eateries opening in the central business district, merchants and officials have said they believe the docks could add a boost to the borough.
