Crews were working Monday afternoon to clean up the mess left behind after a dump truck crash in Middletown.

Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said the dump truck was traveling down Bellevue Avenue when it left the roadway near the Langhorne Train Station early in the afternoon. The dump truck struck a railroad control box, just missing the rear of the Penndel Shopping Center.
After striking the control box, the truck reversed and damaged its undercarriage on the train tracks. A saddle tank with 30 gallons of diesel fuel was punctured and other fluids from the dump truck leaked out into a storm drain.
Fire crews along with a private contractor were called out by the dump truck’s operator to clean up the mess.

Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said the road remained closed as of 4:25 p.m. while crews removed fuel from the drainage system.
No injuries were reported.

After a roughly hour stoppage, SEPTA service resumed on the West Trenton Line around 2:40 p.m., said spokesman Andrew Busch, adding that a track inspection showed no serious damage.

A dump truck that crash near the Langhorne Train Station caused delays on SEPTA trains Monday afternoon.
The accident involving the dump truck happened near the SEPTA West Trenton Line’s Langhorne Train Station and Bellevue Avenue around 1:10 p.m. The crash forced a road closure and train delays, according to police and public transit officials.

Chief Joseph Bartorilla said no one was injured in the crash but a large amount of fuel spilled, causing a mess.
SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said crews were called out to inspect the tracks to see if they sustained any damage when the truck went over them. The inspection found no damage and train service was cleared to resume around 2:40 p.m.
