Bids from contractors hoping to build much-anticipated docks to the Delaware River at the end of Mill Street in Bristol Borough are expected this week.
The bids for the docks expected to play a large role in the revitalization of the borough. A bid specification request sheet outlines the scope of the work, which has been hung up for more than a year due to costs.

According to the bid specifications:
The desired work includes the construction of two concrete floating docks with anchor piles and a pile-supported concrete access pier on the tidal Delaware River in Bristol Borough. All work is contained under a single prime contract. The site is located at the Bristol Waterfront Park (‘Lions Park’) in Bristol Borough.
Bristol Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said recently that the goal is for the bids to come in below $2.5 million. Since previous bids came in too high, designers have worked to scale back some portions of the designs to save money along with applying for additional grants. Among the changes, poured concrete for a sidewalk will now feature a Bristol stamp and will remain plain.
Bucks County awarded the project $520,000 in open space money reserved for waterfront projects. Previously, a county open fund grant provided $480,000 for the project. The project also received a large grant from the United State Fish and Wildlife Service in the spring of 2013.

Bristol officials called the project “an anchor to the future” for the historic riverside town. Officials said in 2013 that they hope the easy riverside access will lead to an economic boost for the local economy.
