Howie was known for his involvement in the student-produced literary magazine Howler, the Neshaminy High School Gay-Straight Alliance Club and the Neshaminy Education Support Team. He taught in the district until he had to take a medical leave.

Howies’ wife, Jennifer, is a teacher at Maple Point Middle School and a cancer survivor. The Howie’s have two sons, Jacob and Daniel.

The district community has rallied over the past several years for the Howies Dodge Cancer Dodgeball Tournament. The tournament has raised thousands of dollars for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation.

Services for Howie will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Goldstein’s Funeral Home at 310 2nd Street Pike in Southampton.
