Hundreds of superheros came out to brave the stormy weather this weekend to participate in Fairless Hills Relay for Life.
Hundreds of participants, most donning capes and other superhero garb, came together for the most recent local Relay for Life to raise $116,000 to fight cancer.

Team Dave is a first year participant in the relay. They are all participating in the relay in memory of Dave Biles, who passed away in October from cancer. “We just think it’s a great event. We want to give back,” Lisa Biles, Dave’s husband, explained.
Even though the forecast for the 24 hour period of the relay showed dismal rain, the members of Team Dave, and the rest of the participants, were not deterred. “Rain or shine, cancer doesn’t go away, and neither will we,” explained Kathy Metts, Biles’ sister. Team Dave raised nearly $5,000 by the start of the relay, and said that they believed they would reach their goal of $5,000 by the end of the relay.
Church organizations were also present at the relay, lending support to those whose lives are being touched by cancer. The Wilkinson United Methodist Church of Croydon was one of these church organizations.

“Cancer touches everyone. We’ve all lost someone or are struggling,” explained Carol Hodges of the church. The church raised at least $2,300 for the goal of fighting cancer.

Local businesses also supported the relay. BJ’s of Fairless Hills was present with a number of crew members supporting those participating in the relay.
