Students Work On Final Preparations For Pennsbury Prom

The famous Pennsbury Senior Prom is once again here and those responsible for making the prom memorable and vivid have done their job once again.

This year, the theme of the prom is “Festivals Around The World.” Various festivals featured in the art around the school building where prom is held will include depictions of The Worlds Fair, Disney World, Mardi Gras and more.

Brian Mendick is a senior prom chair this year and has been working with the prom since his sophomore year at the school. “We have more seniors getting involved and getting into it than last year. It’s like everyone who goes gets to have a part in it,” said Mendick.

Eric Wodzanowski is another senior prom chair and explained that this year’s theme has been on the ballot for years, and he is very excited that it was finally chosen.

Tony Napoli has been involved with the Pennsbury Prom for 22 years and is in his fifth year as a prom advisor. Napoli teaches art at the high school and is very involved with the creation of the prom.

“We’ve kind of built on past proms. We try to challenge ourselves,” Napoli explained. In order to extend themselves this year, there will be two large pieces of decoration at the prom: A large, interactive type of centerpiece, and a large piñata which will open at midnight as a type of cinco de mayo celebration.

The Pennsbury Prom is a labor of love for those involved, and the components are created fresh for every year.

“I think that is what sets our prom apart. Everything is made from scratch every year. Nothing is re used,” Napoli explained.
