The Bristol Township School Board voted late last month to move forward with a plan to look at fixing the problem-plagued roof at Harry S. Truman High School.

The board hired Schrader Group Architecture to draw up plans to repair the leaky roof. According to officials, testing of the aging roof, which is built in numerous sections, will be completed.

The cost of work was not immediately available.

The district will take Schrader Group’s recommendations and then solicit bids later this year.

Officials said samples to test the roof will be taken by Schrader Group and be used to see where the most work in needed.

Last week, district business manager John Steffy explained to the public that the new bond issue would pay for the work to Truman’s roof and also go toward construction of the new “state-of-the-art” school at the Mary Devine Elementary School site in Croydon.

For  more than a year, parents have complained about the condition of the roof and leaks that often spring up. The district worked last year to make repairs to the roof and mitigate problems associated with the moisture getting into the building. Photos from students leaked online in September and showed the ceiling in one bathroom was crumbling.
