Matthew B. Shipe and Morrisville police Cpl. Michael Pitcher are both lucky to be alive.
Shipe, 25, of Levittown, was shot by Pitcher after he allegedly tried to run him down on Valentine’s Day in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at Pennsylvania Avenue and Bridge Street in Morrisville Borough.

During a preliminary hearing in Morrisville on Tuesday, Shipe had charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, theft, receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude police, criminal attempt recklessly endangering another person and several counts of simple assault forwarded to Doylestown for trial.
The 25 year old allegedly backed the silver car he was driving, which was reported stolen out of Bristol Township, into Pitcher during a traffic stop outside the 7-Eleven. The officer fired his service weapon twice and hit Shipe once, according to court papers.
“I saw the look on his face and it was a chilling look I’ll never forget,” Pitcher testified, according to the Bucks County Courier Times. The corporal also said in court that he was clinging to the hood of the car before being knocked off.

Despite being shot in the chest, Shipe drove off, police allege. He ended up crashing the silver car into a wooded area near Snipes Farm and Route 1 after he struck the center barrier.
Pitcher was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and Shipe was taken to the hospital to be treated for gunshot wound.
