The Pennsylvania Environmental Council is seeking grant money to improve the Delaware Canal walking trail through Tullytown.
Tony Spagnoli, a representative from PEC, asked the borough council last week for a resolution authorizing PEC to submit a grant application to PECO for work to improve the trail, which runs from Bristol Borough to Easton. The council approved the resolution.

If PECO awards the grant to the PEC, the amount would be matched by a William Penn Foundation grant, Spagnoli said.
In the event the PEC gets the grant, they will work to clear Delaware Canal trail obstructions through the borough and Levittown Town Center. Spagnoli said a crosswalk on Levittown Parkway and through the shopping center along with signage could be added to aid pedestrians using the 90-mile trail that is managed by the state park system.
In 2013, two tunnels were built underneath Route 13 in Tullytown to make the canal trail safer for users.

Spagnoli said PEC has worked in Bristol Borough, Falls and Morrisville to improve the trail.
