A Middletown man was charged with possessing child pornography this week.
Matthew J. Cullen, 33, was arrested Thursday by the Pennsylvania Attorney General Office’s as part of an investigation into child pornography. He was charged with criminal use of a communication facility and child pornography-related offenses.

State investigators first caught on to Cullen in January and discovered he downloaded a file that showed boys between the ages of 7 and 10 performing sex acts with an adult, according to court papers.
A search warrant uncovered the file was shared from a Middetown home, court papers say.
This week, agents from the attorney general’s office and Bensalem police executed a search warrant on the Prospect Avenue home Cullen shares with his mother. Agents interviewed Cullen’s mother and two laptops were taken from Cullen’s room, officials said.

A file-sharing program with 25 videos and 50 photos of alleged child pornography were found on a laptop retrieved from Cullen’s room, court papers say. Several other files were seized and are awaiting a review by the computer forensics unit.
Cullen allegedly told investigators he had only one laptop and asked for an attorney when questioned about the second laptop found by agents.

“I don’t want my mother to find out. She can’t pay the bills by herself,” he allegedly said. “My life is over.”
Cullen was arraigned Thursday afternoon and sent to county prison on 10 percent $200,000 bail.
