Falls Township has followed theย lead of other government agencies and appointed an outside PR firm to handle their media relations.

Theresa Katalinas of Katalinas Communications was appointed by the council on Tuesday at their regularly scheduled council meeting.

Katalinas, who could not attend the meeting, was a former reporter who had covered Falls Township several years before her appointment. She has since started an independent public relations firm.

Katalinas’ job which will be used on as needed basis, will cost the township $50 an hour.

The former Bucks County Courier Times and Patch.com reporter will handle the township’s social media pages, and design their seasonal newsletter.

According to Board Chairman Bob Harvie, the township was without a newsletter for several years after they struggled to find a business to create and distribute one for them. According to Harvie, Katalinas’ role willย  be beyond the ability of Falls’ staff.

According to Vice Chairman Jeffry Dence, it will be a valuable position, as Katalinas will best understand how to get the message out to township residents.

With the media relations scope being handled outside township staff, supervisor Jeffrey Rocco is confident it will help keep transparency with what the township is doing.
