The Bristol Borough School Board voted not to exceed a tax index of 2.5 percent for the next budget year.
The percentage represents 3.85 mills, which would be representative of a $277,000 increase in tax income, according to the school district business manager Chris McHugh.

According to McHugh, the board still has the ability to raise taxes, but cannot raise them past the tax index of 2.5 percent.
As of early in January, the board was still working to fill a budget gap. The district has until June 30 to approve a final budget for the 2015-2016 school year.
