NEARBY: Several Roads To Be Closed For Rail Work

A new set of train tracks through Lower Makefield will delay traffic and close roads next week.

According to a press release provided by the Lower Makefield police, the 800 foot sections will require the closure of railroad road crossings as the work trains approach and pass them.

The closings will occur between Sunday, Jan. 18, and Tuesday, Jan. 20. On Sunday, the closures could occur anytime between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. On Monday and Tuesday, the closures could occur anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., said the press release.

Each individual crossing will take between 15 and 30 minutes, however, no specific times of crossings can be guaranteed.

According to the press release, the work will start at the Yardley and Edgewood stations, and will work westward. The other crossings, in order, are Stony Hill Road, Heacock Road, and the Township Line Road crossing, which is on the Middletown border.

Lower Makefield police will be present at the crossing during the work.
