Bristol Township police said early Thursday afternoon that a 65-year-old Bensalem man was the victim of a fatal strike by an Amtrak train near the Croydon station.

Witness accounts indicate the incident may have been a suicide, Acting Chief of Police Sgt. Ralph Johnson said.

Investigators were called to the scene of a death Thursday on the train tracks in Bristol Township.

The person was struck killed by an Amtrak train between the Croydon Train Station and Bensalem shortly before 10 a.m., officials said.

A SEPTA spokesperson said inbound service from Trenton to Center City, Philadelphia was suspended as of 10:30 a.m. Outbound service was in service with delays up to 30 minutes.

The incident drew authorities from several different police, fire and emergency medical agencies.
