Original Story:

Jennie Russo, who turned 93 on Friday, had a dying wish: to pass away in the bedroom of her Levittown home, surrounded by her religious statues.

That didn’t happen and police are looking for the person who ruined her wish.

About two hours after the bedroom wall of the longtime Bristol Township woman’s home was struck by a hit-and-run driver, she died in the living room, according to her son and police. Her son said he believes the excitement of the crash caused his ailing mother to pass away Friday morning at 4:55 a.m.

Ron Russo said he was sleeping  in a room over from his mother’s bedroom, where she was on hospice, when he heard a crash around 2:40 a.m. He rushed into her room to see a dresser leaning against his 58 pound mother’s hospice bed. He tended to her, scooped her up and moved Jennie Russo into another bedroom.

Minutes later, firefighters from Levittown Fire Company No. 2 moved the hospital bed into the living room of her home, Russo said.

“She was too frail for those moves, but we had to move her,” Ron Russo said.

A police investigation determined a red pickup truck traveling northeast on Rolling Lane lost control, left the highway and struck the corner of Jennie Russo’s house at 67 Red Brook Lane, according to officials.

Tire tracks on the lawn of 67 Red Brook Lane show the truck struck the home, reversed, drove through the front yard and off into the night.

“All I saw was red tail lights out in the front yard,” Ron Russo said. “None of the neighbors saw anything.”

Around 10 a.m. Friday morning, the Russo family gathered in the living room of Jenny Russo’s home discussing what had happened. In the center of the room, photos of Jenny Russo were laid out on her hospital bed.

“We just want to find out who did this,” a family member said.

“The sought after vehicle is a full-sized red pick-up truck, likely a 1994-1996 Dodge Ram or similar. It has significant front-end and moderate passenger’s side damage,” police said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Paul Shallcross at 267-812-3096 or Officer Paul Aita at 267-812-3042.
