A local man who allegedly had too much to drink Tuesday night ended up in county jail.
It all began when Falls Township police responded to the Sheraton Hotel around 6:20 p.m. on November 11 for reports of an intoxicated person. The individual was identified by police as 37-year-old Marc Friedhofer.

Police said they were able toย immediately identify that Friedhofer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol to the degree that he was incapable of caring for himself.
According to an affidavit written by the arresting officer, Friedhofer had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and poor balance and coordination, which required him to lean on objects to remain standing. He also had slurred speech and the inability to retain thoughts or follow directions.
It was then that police say they arranged for Friedhofer to be transported by police from the Sheraton Hotel to his home in Falls Township where he would be cared for by his mother.

According to court documents, when police arrived at Friedhofer’s residence he refused to go inside and instead staggered down Central Avenue to an unpopulated wooded area.
Due to his alleged inebriated state, police then took a hold of his arm and began to escort himย back towards his home. In response, Friedhofer began to resist arrest and pull his arm free to prevent police from holding him. He was wrestled to the ground where he continued to resist arrest by violently swinging his arms and legs in an attempt to break free, according to court documents.

Friedhofer was unable to overcome the arrest and was then taken into custody by Falls police. Even as he was being walked back to the police car he made several attempts to pull free and run away, police said.
Friedhofer was charged with public drunkenness and resisting arrest. He was arraigned by Judge Leonard J. Brown and sent to county jail on 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
