A routine pick up between friends late last month quickly turned violent when defendant Brett Burkhardt brandished weapons and approached the two friends.

According to official police papers, the victims had known Burkhard0t, 52, of Fairless Hills,ย prior to the incident for several years.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Burkhardt approached the victims in a white PT Cruiser and exited upon reaching them holding a baseball bat and a kitchen knife. One of the victims believed the bat was a gun, but later realized it was indeed a bat.
While approaching the victims, the defendant reportedly yelled things including the topic of “taking all you ni**ers out,” said official court documents. While approaching the victims, Burkhardt swung the bat, breaking the driver’s side rear window, said court documents. Burkhardt is white, according to court papers.
After the initial attack, the victims attempted to leave the area by driving around Burkhardt, however, Burkhardt again swung at the car, smashing the drivers side cargo area window, said the probable cause affidavit.

The victims attempted to escape, and did so by driving onto Airport Road. Burkhardt quickly caught up to them and rammed the back of their vehicle, causing damage to the bumper and tail light areas, said police papers.

Burkhardt’s vehicle became disabled after ramming the victim’s car and both Bukhardt, his vehicle and weapons were found in the vicinity of the attack, said the probable cause affidavit.
According to court documents, damage sustained by the victims car totaled $3,000.
Burkhardt faces two charges each of ethnic intimidation, terroristic threats with the intention of terrorizing another, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and one charge of property damage criminal mischief.

Burkhardt’s preliminary hearing has been set for Nov. 26 at 3:00 p.m. in Judge Kline’s court.
