A bunch of local residents and businesses recently got together to help a local food bank out.

Rick Naylor ,who owns Spibonik Thrift Store on Mill Street in Bristol, and the 215 Jeep Crew decided to chip in and help the Bristol Borough Community Action Center on Wood Street by collecting non-perishable food items for the food bank.
Naylor said he believes its important to support community causes, especially during this time of year.
Spibonik has been collecting donations now for about two weeks, and will continue to do so till the end of this month.

It’s not the only cause the community-minded business owner has supported since bringing the always busy thrift shop to Bristol Borough.
Spibonik has donated hundreds of dollars to Stand Down, which supports homeless veterans, and local groups that support fallen first responders and their families with coupons from sales he’s held at the thrift shop.

Naylor said Spibonik’s recent commitment to assist the food bank will last until the holiday season, since its a tough time of year for the center that feeds hundreds weekly. Customers donating receive 15 percent off of purchases on the day of donation. Several donations over several days and get a discount, each time, he said.
Also, pitching in over the weekend was the 215 Jeep Crew, who collected and delivered food to the community organization early Sunday morning. The crew is made up of a little about 450 members dedicated to all things Jeep related.

Menth and crew said the shelves were bare at the food bank and they felt compelled to help as much as they could saying they felt compelled to help once they heard that Rev. Jeff Fisher – who is the executive director the agency needed help.
Recently, Fisher said the food bank has been feeding over a 120 families in the borough regularly, which has caused supplies to diminish.

On Sunday, the shelves at the food bank were empty, but now thanks to Spibonik Thrift and the 215 Jeep Crew families who are struggling will find food at the Bristol Borough Community Action Center.
