A man is accused of fatally shooting a cat in Bristol Township.
On Sunday, October 19 at 3:13 a.m., Bristol Township police were dispatched for a report that a cat was been shot on Joseph Placeย inย Levittown.

When police arrived, they found Thomas Watts, 24, crying and saying he didn’t mean to shoot the cat. According to police, Watts was under the influence of alcohol when officers arrived.
According to police, another subject inside the apartmentย stated he took a black and silver Ruger SR9c 9mm semi-automatic weapon from Watts. The subject’s wife stated to police she had heard a loud bang while she was laying in bed and when she came out of her bedroom she found Watts standing over her cat, Simba. Watts was reported to be holding a handgun.
According to court documents, the cat was twitching and blood was coming from its head when she walked into the living room.

Police noted in the affidavit of probable cause that the cat had been shot in the right side of its head.
According to court documents, police recovered a 9mm casing from beneath the deceased cat, consistent with what had been used to kill the cat.

After placing Watts in police custody, police visited the apartment below to check that no one had been injured as a result of the firearm being discharged. Court records show that although other residents remarked hearing yelling coming from the apartment, no one was injured.
Watts was charged via summons with cruelty to animals and recklessly endangering another person. His preliminary hearing is set for November 26 before Judge Joanne Kline.
