Bristol Township School District officials on reassured parents Tuesday night that staff are working to correct violations found by the Bucks County Department of Health during an inspection several weeks ago.

Staff have worked at Harry S. Truman High School to seal cracks where rodents could enter the building over the past week, other steps have been taken to fix a leaky roof and pest problems that has plagued parts of the high school, officials said.

“We searched the whole perimeter of the building for openings,” District Operations Manager Tim Trzaska said. He added that any openings are now sealed.
In late September, concerned parents requested the Bucks County Department of Health to investigate problems at the school. In early October, two members of the county department came out to the school to inspect the building.
The county officials noted in their report that the aging high school had several areas where rodents could get access to the building. It was also noted that the roof was leaking and that oriental cockroaches were found in the building.

Despite rumors of black mold in the building, none has been found and recent air quality tests are within normal levels, Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee said earlier this month.

A recent inspection of the Truman’s cafeteria showed no violations.
The district has worked in recent weeks to make repairs to the roof and mitigate problems associated with the moisture leaking into the building. Photos from students leaked online last month and showed the ceiling in one bathroom was crumbling.

District officials said the health department will be back to inspect the school in November.
Truman has about 1,300 students inside its Green Lane location.
