It’s been rumored for weeks but Bristol Township School District officials confirmed Monday evening that there was a rodent problem at Harry S. Truman High School this year.

Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee said the staff at the school is working to fix the issue and an exterminator has been brought in. He also said the district received a letter from Bucks County Department of Health inspectors recently following an inspection. The letter said the “rodent infestation appears to be under control.”

District Operations Manager Tim Trzaska said his staff was working to seal all the areas where rodents could get in.
Multiple sources have confirmed to LevittownNow.com in recent weeks that pieces of cloth furniture in the theater classroom has been discarded by custodians because of the infestation.
Officials say the rodents appeared to be mice.

The issue was mentioned at Monday night’s school board meeting when Janet Keyser, president of the Bristol Township Democratic Committee, spoke during public comment.
“I have a couple of issues but first I’d like to address the mice in Truman,” Keyser said as she got up to the podium to speak to the district administration and all Democratic board.

February health department inspections of the Truman cafeteria and Fast Break Cafe did not turn up any violations, according to documents obtained by LevittownNow.com. The cafeteria’s most recent pest-related violation was in October when two life cockroaches were found.
“This is a health issue to me,” Keyser said.
