According to police, the two-door car the men were in left the New Falls Road, flipped and went about 70 feet before hitting a tree on Quincy Drive around 12:40 p.m. Doran and Pitts were both ejected and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

A Quincy Drive resident who heard the crash said it sounded like a “freight train”

Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said Sunday that speed appeared to be a factor in the wreck that left the car the men were in mangled.

Debris from the wreck was scattered throughout the area of New Falls Road and Quincy Drive. When the car the two were was loaded on a tow truck, it was barely recognizable.

Firefighters, medics and fire police from several agencies were called to the scene and remained there for hours after the crash.

A friend of Doran’s said a vigil would be held at the crash site Tuesday night. The friend said the event was still being planned and no time had been set.
