โ€œI was WWOOFing in Europe and decided I wanted to farm, so I applied to a bunch of farms,โ€ the 27-year-old said. โ€œIโ€™m not from an agricultural background, but I really like it.โ€

Squicciarino and Stephanie often do farm markets and heard about The Morrisville Community Farmersโ€™ Market via Facebook and reached out to Stephanie Huston, the manager.

โ€œ[If everything goes well] weโ€™ll be back here in May,โ€ Squicciarino said.

On Sept. 21, this marketยญ โ€” located at Morrisville High School, 399 Cox Avenue โ€” opened up to hungry and curious customers wanting to get a taste of Morrisville and all the treats from businesses such as Morrisville Sweets, Two Sister Canning, Mystical Dreamers and Happy Wanderer Bakery.

Even though there were only a few vendors there, it was a success and after mounds of people flocked to Hustonโ€™s Community Facebook page, they visited the market to see what all the chatter was about.

Huston noted that she has a ton of people for the 2015 season, but in terms of the turnout thus far, she said, โ€œI lost track of the actual count a little before 10, when we were at 70 people. But, it stayed steady until 12:30ish too.โ€ โ€œI had hoped for that many people, but didn’t truly know what to expect,” Huston said.

Customers were also pretty pleased with this Farmers Market just the same.

Stephanie Ritzen-Kemp, who has lived in Morrisville for the past 15 years, and has children who attend the Morrisville schools, was following the Farmers Market on Facebook from the beginning and hoped it would take off.

โ€œI’m happy to support events in Morrisville that the whole community can enjoy,โ€ Ritzen-Kemp said, โ€œWe purchased vegetables, baked goods, honey, candles and preserves and plan on regularly attending the Farmers Market.โ€

Tracy Miller, who has lived in Morrisville for 10 years, found a bunch of goodies such as honey, baked goods, onions and lettuce and heard about this market on various Morrisville pages.

โ€œWe love going to local farmers markets when we’re on vacation, and thought we would like to have one here at home and absolutely [loved it],โ€ Miller said.

In terms of moving forth, Huston hopes with enough support, her market will continue to grow week after week after week. On her Facebook page, she kindly noted, โ€œI look forward to going on this journey with all of you and seeing how the market can grow!”
