Bank Forgery Suspect Caught After Police Chase


A Tuesday police chase that was described by a witness as “wild” all started when police went to talk to a man accused of trying to impersonate a Bristol Borough resident and taking money from their account.

Tullytown officers were called to the Wells Fargo around 11:30 a.m. after a manager reported a man came into the bank and tried to withdraw $200 while posing as another customer, police said.

When Tullytown officers arrived, the man – later identified as Robert Buck, 57, of Levittown – speed off in a vehicle near the Walmart, according to court papers.

Buck then reportedly drove his car through the Kenwood section of Levittown at a “high rate of speed.” Police said Buck then drove his vehicle through the green belt behind the Walmart and toward the Home Depot parking lot.

Buck’s vehicle stopped when he struck a curb and fled on foot, court papers say.

Police noted in court papers that an officer fired a Taser after the Buck refused to stop. Court paper detail that the Taser nodes missed and failed to work.

Officers were able to capture the fleeing 57 year old on Kenwood Drive, police said.

A Bristol Township police sergeant later discovered paperwork with identifying information of the person Buck is accused of impersonating, court papers say. Authorities noted that bank officials told them the account Buck tried to take from on Tuesday was closed after he allegedly stole more than $500 from it previously.

Buck was charged with forgery, identity theft, careless driving, access device fraud, fleeing and eluding police and related offenses. He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County lockup on 10 percent of $10,000 bail.
