K-9 Officer & Dog Help Apprehend Man Trying to Flee, Cops Say

Police say a chase Monday ended with the arrest of Mitchell Johnson after he fled from Bristol Township officers.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Johnson, 24, of Bristol, was witnessed approaching the Dunkin Donuts located on the 5000 block of Bristol pike when Officer Thomas Phillips was following up on two burglaries that happened at the business throughout the previous week.

Phillips identified Mitchell and recognized that Mitchell was not welcome on the property of the particular Dunkin Donuts after pleading guilty to burglarizing it previously, according to the probable cause affidavit.

As well as not being welcome, Officer Phillips also beloved that there was a warrant out for the arrest of Mitchell due to unpaid child support, according to court documents.

Upon sighting officer Phillips, Mitchell reportedly changed direction and began heading away from the Dunkin Donuts, according to police papers.

When Officer Phillips asked Mitchell to come speak with him, Mitchell refused. Officer Phillips then informed Mitchell that he was under arrest, for being found on the property of Dunkin Donuts,according to court documents.

Mitchell fled on foot when he was informed of his impending arrest. The 24 year old ran through the Diekhaus Buick car dealership and through the villager Lodge property, police said.

Mitchell was taken into custody by virtue of Officer Dave Wiser and his K-9 in the rear of the Villager Lodge property, according to official documents.

Mitchell was charged with trespassing, and flight to avoid apprehension. Mitchell’s bail has been set at 10 percent of $10,000,and Mitchell is scheduled to appear in a preliminary hearing on October 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Judge Joanne Kline’s courthouse.
