Troopers from state police Troop M in Trevose operated a DUI checkpoint and roving patrols at Pine Street and Maple Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, until 3 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The enforcement effort ended with the two arrests for DUI, one arrest for fleeing and eluding, and 14 summary citations issued to motorists, state police said in a press release.

The detail was part of an enforcement campaign announced by Troop M between Friday, Oct. 30, and Sunday, Nov. 1.

State police said the goal was to cut down on alcohol- and drug-related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce impaired drivers on state roadways.

Troopers also reminded drivers of the legal consequences of fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement. Any driver who willfully fails or refuses to stop, or otherwise attempts to elude pursuit, faces charges graded up to a third-degree felony. That offense carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, a $15,000 fine, and restitution for any damages or injuries caused during the pursuit.
