The owner of several local newspapers could be putting them on the market.

Digital First Media announced recent that it is exploring “strategic options” that include a full or partial sale of the company, which has more than 800 print and multi-media properties across the nation. The company publishes the Bristol Pilot, Bucks County Advance, Trentonian and other regional newspapers.

The company recently put its former newsroom and print facility in Bristol Township up for sale.
“Other than the usual die-hard skeptics, it is now a given that newspapers, as multi-platform news organizations, will thrive in the future as the best and biggest providers of local news and advertising in their markets,” CEO John Paton said in a letter to employees.
Under Paton’s leadership, the company has seen massive changes that have included overhauls in the way news is produced by shrinking staffs and the sale of dozens of newspaper buildings across the company.

“After a rocky five years, the newspaper industry is firmly back on its feet again,” Paton told employees. “The products we will need in the future for news or sales will look nothing like they do now. ”
Many Digital First Media newspapers have worked in the past few years to increase digital offerings.

The Bucks County newspapers currently have offices in Lansdale, Montgomery County and the Trentonian has an office in the city.
The newspapers are operated by Yardley-based 21st Century Media, which is managed by Denver-based Digital First Media. The company was formerly known as Journal Register Company.
