Bristol Township police spent a portion of Friday chasing two brothers who ran from them.

The brothers – Jason Meyer, 25, and Michael Meyer, 27 – fled from officers after they visited a house in the 1800 block of Edgely Road where the two were reported to be staying. The brothers were both wanted for Pennsylvania state parole violations.

Following a call for assistance, additional officers rushed to the area and began the search for the two who took off on foot around 10:45 a.m., police said.
Michael Meyer, who jumped out a first-floor window to escape, was taken into custody first, police said.
Lt. Terry Hughes said he and a sergeant spotted Michael Meyer and yelled for him to stop while in the industrial center off Runway Road. At that point, a man who worked at a nearby business saw police were chasing the 27 year old and tackled him to the ground.

“It was an excellent open field tackle,” Hughes said of the citizen’s assistance. “I just talked to the guy to thank him and he said he used to play ice hockey.”
Michael Meyer was found to have a lighter and closed switch blade in his hand when police arrested him, police said.

Jason Meyer remained on the run and likely fleeing through wooded areas until early afternoon.
Police later returned to the house on Edgely Road and found the 25 year old there. When officers arrived, Jason Meyer ran again and was arrested shortly after without incident, according to authorities.
Acting Chief of Police Lt. John Godzieba said one of the brothers was on parole for a drug offense and the other was on parole for charges including simple assault and flight to avoid prosecution. Hughes added that Jason Meyer’s parole officers were from the state’s Philadelphia office and Michael Meyer’s parole officers were based out of Allentown.

The brother’s are not currently charged by Bristol Township police in connection with their attempt to elude police, but charges might be filed at a later date, Hughes said.
The Meyers were taken from the police station late Friday afternoon by state parole officers.
