Officials have closed a bridge in the Levittown section of Middletown Township.

An inspection of the Forsythia Crossing bridge that connects the Forsythia Gate and Snowball Gate sections of Levittown revealed the bridge was “unsafe for vehicular traffic,” according to Middletown Township manager Stephanie Teoli Kuhls. The inspection was performed recently by PennDOT.

Officials say the bridge will remain open for pedestrian traffic.
The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors authorized a project to make repairs to the bridge on July 21. The cost of the project is a little more than $304,000.
“I am meeting with our township engineer this afternoon to determine if there is a need to change the scope of the project,” Teoli Kuhls said.

The bridge sits near Samuel Everitt Elementary School.
