The 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks was marked by sobriety and somber songs at the Tullytown Firehouse Thursday evening.

The town’s emergency workers, firefighters, veterans and police force gathered, at least in part, to show remembrance and to memorialize the loss of lives on September 11 2001.

Along with songs, different members of the community spoke prayers and words of encouragement with the message that America can not give up.
โYour world has changed today as well as all tomorrows,โ Police Chief Daniel Doyle said in regards to the day the world woke up to find one of the greatest national tragedies in recent years.

The guest speaker, Tom Minton, a former FBI agent and member of Pennsylvania’s Homeland Security Unit, first worked as an agent in Tullytown and returned home to speak to those gathered in remembrance. โWe all knew the world was a different place from that moment on,โ he said.

โWe’ve come a long way since that beautiful morning 13 years ago,โ continued Minton in explaining where we stand regarding security in America.ย โWe lost a lot of incredible heroes that day and too many more since.”
โI’m kind of at a loss for words,โ said Tim Damiani, who was in attendance of the ceremony. โIt’s a day to remember the lives of those lost that day.”

Judy Pearl, another observer, felt that the military effects of the day have long reaching arms. โIt’s effecting more than those who died when the towers fell, unfortunately.โ
Pearl explained that many people had loved ones who went to war as an effect of the September 11 attacks.
