The cause of a fire at an abandoned Falls Township bar last Friday has been ruled arson.
Fire and police were called to the old Fairless Hills 500 bar in the 400 block of East Tyburn Road Friday afternoon for a reported. Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the fire was sparked when a mattress behind the building was set ablaze.

The fire was quickly put down by first responders and the building did not suffer serious damage.
The old bar has been closed for at least 10 years and a sign recently listed the site as being for sale.
Dippolito said the incident remains under investigation.
