Jet Ski Collision Brings Out First Responders

Two jet skiers collided on the Delaware River Sunday night. The crash happened in front of the shocked eyes of dozens on the Bristol Borough riverfront.

A number of people fishing saw and heard the accident, Deputy Chief ย Tony Riccio of Bristol Fire Co 50 said.

โ€œWe were alerted to possible crash between jet skiers,โ€ Riccio said. โ€œUpon arrival, were told by witnesses on the scene that a man was seen on Burlington Island appearing to be injuredโ€

Witnesses described a loud โ€œbangโ€ when the river collision occurred.

As first responders arrived on scene, two men towing one jet ski on the river and another man was towing the other jet ski, speeding around the island towards New Jersey.

Fire officials said the New Jersey State Police office is where the jet skiers were most likely headed for.

No injuries as of press time were reported.

With this ย incident being the second is as many weeks,ย  the question as to whether a space would be created for first responders on the riverfront when the floating dock project begins to be constructed is unknown.

Riccio deferred the question to Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack.
