Tens of thousands of flags will be staked in the ground of Falls Township Community Park starting Friday morning. Volunteers are welcome to join in planting the roughly 65,000 flags that make up the annual display, organizers said.

Music from six local bands on Saturday will fill the park from noon until 8 p.m. Locals will be able to visit the display and take pictures of it.

Organizer Donnie Jones, son of the event’s namesake, said last year that the large display features 60,000 flags in a line as long as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Another 5,000 flags were used to make a star design.

On Sunday, motorcyclists will ride to the display at noon. Several dignitaries will be in attendance to speak and take part in a ceremony to honor POWs at 1 p.m.

The event has been hosted at the Falls Township park for about a dozens years and previous was held at the Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol Township.
