Tullytown May Relocate Police Station, Administration Office During Renovation

Tullytown officials are looking into options for a temporary home for borough offices.

Due to pending renovations to the current borough building on Main Street, the community government will have to move their operations to another location. If they did not and the renovation project is done in phases, the cost could be at least a quarter-of-a-million dollars more expensive, borough coordinator Alison Smith said last week.

Officials said the cheapest option would be to rent the catering hall at 578 Main Street for $1 and pay the cost of renovating the space.

The council voted last week to allow borough coordinator Alison Smith to the determine costs to move offices into a catering hall and outfit the building. An architect, at the very least, will be required to convert the building.

Smith said the borough had five options: two were portable trailers, space at a shopping center and space in two free-standing buildings. The work to prepare the building may cost at least $45,000 and is the cheapest option.

Officials said they will be gathering bids for the renovation project, which can be completed in one phase.
