Planning for the annual Historic Bristol Borough Christmas Parade is underway at the direction of a new organizing committee.

The committee recently launched a new website to give residents and participants access to event information, parade history, contact details, and applications.
Bristol Borough Council established the new committee earlier this year after the resignation of organizer Ellen Scancella, the resident who managed the Christmas tradition for more than two decades.
Organizers are seeking a range of participants, including musical groups, string bands, school bands, entertainers, performance groups, non-profit organizations, businesses, floats, and decorated vehicles.

Interested groups have to complete the participation form available on the parade’s website.
Committee members said that submitting a form does not guarantee entry, as all applications will be reviewed to make sure the parade is a safe, organized event.
Accepted applicants will receive further logistics and lineup details closer to the event, organizers said.

“With a new organizing committee in place, we are looking forward to continuing that tradition while building a strong, festive event for the entire community,” the Bristol Borough Christmas Parade Committee said in a statement.
