“Tonight, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth,” Wolf said in a tweet shortly after the news.

Wolf poured over $10 million into his own campaign starting last year and was regularly featured in television spots. He pull ahead of high-profile challengers like Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz and Rob McCord in polls week ago.

Signs supporting Wolf has sprung up across Lower Bucks County in recent weeks. Wolf came to Bristol Borough on Saturday for a rally.

“It now appears there’s a wolf at the door…who hasn’t met a tax he didn’t like. “He’s gonna huff and puff but he’s not going to blow down the Pennsylvania Tom Corbett has built,” Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley said following the news, according to social media posts by the Corbett campaign.

Wolf is owner of a building-products company based in York. The company has been in his family for decades. Wolf used his experiance in the Peach Corps and as a business owner to try to define himself as a non-politician in the gubernatorial race. Despite downplaying his political role, Wolf did serve as state revenue secretary for a portion of Gov. Ed Rendell’s time in Harrisburg.
