Man Looking for Smoke Gets Jaw Broken, Cops Say


A Bensalem man wanted for allegedly breaking a man’s jaw for no good reason was arrested and arraigned Tuesday.

John Daley, 45, is accused of punching a man so hard in the early morning hours of November 8 that the man went unconscious for a minute and fell to the ground. The man needed to get his jaw wired shut by staff at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown, according to police.

The incident happened in the area of at Hulmeville Avenue and Crescent Street in Penndel, police said.

The attack happened after the man asked Daley for a cigarette, police said. The man reportedly knew Daley, who had left by the time police arrived.

Pictures of Daley were shown to the man with the broken jaw and he confirmed the 45-year-old was the man who attacked him, court papers say.

Daley was charged with aggravated and simple assault and harassment. He was released by District Judge on $75,000 unsecured bail.
