The Middletown Board of Supervisors addressed the Langhorne Gables storm water issue this week by voting to create a three year plan for a storm drain overhaul.
In a 5-0 vote, the board voted to create a three year plan to institute improvements to the storm drains in the Langhorne Gables section as well as create a water basin all in attempts to stem the flooding problems that have been present in the township for years.

According to the plans that were presented at the meeting, improvements would be made to the storm drains on Longview Avenue and Clay Avenue. Improvements made include a new storm sewer, reconstructing the roadway and adding curb to the drive. The board also discussed acquiring privately owned land to put in a water basin. The price tag on these projects totals to around $750,000. The cost breaks down to ยญ $500,000 for the storm water drain improvements and $250,000 for the water basin.
Middletown Township has suffered from many flooding problems in the past decades. Some board members partially blame this problem on the sewer systems in the township, saying that their designs are outdated.
Also on the agenda for the meeting was a resident plea to dedicate Tall Tree Lane. Several residents from the lane approached the board to ask the supervisors to take the currently private road Tall Tree Lane and make it a township road. Part of the reason for adopting the road would be so the residents receive road maintenance such as plowing and cleaning. The board planned to meet with the builders of the homes on Tall Tree Lane so they can work towards dedicating the roads.
