
Neshaminy High School graduate and new Penn State head coach James Franklin will be a guest at one of the most important annual events in the United States.
Franklin will be a guest of Central Pennsyvanaia U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson, a Penn State graduate, at Tuesday’s State of the Union speech. The speech will be given by President Barack Obama before congress at 9 p.m.

“I am grateful and very appreciative of Rep. Glenn Thompson’s invitation to attend the President’s State of the Union Address,” Franklin said in a statement.
“As a guest of Rep. G.T. Glenn Thompson, whose district includes State College, Franklin will sit in the upper gallery overlooking the House floor as Obama details his vision for his sixth term,” a story posted by The Morning Call newspaper said.
Franklin, a former Langhorne resident, was named Penn State’s 16th head football coach on Jan. 11. Previous to joining Penn State, Franklin was the head coach at Vanderbilt since 2011. He joins the Penn State program after former head coach Bill O’Brien left to take the Houston Texans coach job.

“I look forward to hearing the President’s vision for 2014 and beyond and what we, as citizens of the greatest union in the world, can do to help move our nation forward,” Franklin said.
