What might have been a stupid mistake is also a dangerous one.

Middletown Township police took a report of a stolen handgun this week.

According to authorities, a man reported a handgun worth $500 was taken from inside an 2011 Ford parked on Hemlock Road in Levittown. The gun was stolen between between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

A police report provided no further details.
