At their Wednesday meeting, the Bucks County Commissioners unanimous approved a $399.2 million operating budget for 2014.
The new budget keeps property taxes at their current millage rate following a tax increase in 2012.

From Bucks County:
[Finance Director David] Boscola detailed some highlights of the budget, which is the result of a five-month annual planning process. It includes a $178,600 surplus that lifts the year-ending General Fund balance to $44.3 million (or well above the 10-percent of budget threshold that the commissioners prefer to maintain). Mr. Boscola thanked county department heads, court officials and row officers for their role in the budget process.
County officials have worked over the past several years to keep costs down. A bit more than 200 jobs have been cut through attrition over the past years, county officials have said before.
The budgeting process began drafting the 2014 budget in September and worked into late November. The preliminary budget was presented at a meeting in early December and public comment was accepted.
