Pennsbury High School graduate Matthew Schuler was eliminated Tuesday night from NBC’s “The Voice.”
The 21-year-old former Sesame Place employee didn’t garner enough votes or tweets during the “Instant Save” round to keep him on the singing competition.

Schuler performed One Direction’s “Story of My Life” and the classic Percy Sledge song “When a Man Loves a Woman” on Monday night’s broadcast, which featured the Top 6 performers. The first song was picked by Schuler and dedicated to his parents, while the other was picked by his team’s captain, Christina Aguilera.
At the end of Tuesday night’s results broadcast, Schuler didn’t get a chance to speak but did hug Aguilera.
“If I helped to encourage just ONE person then I did my job. I can’t thank you guys enough,” Schuler wrote on Twitter following the broadcast.

Throughout the season, the show’s judges and fans have praised Schuler’s performances and many considered him a front runner. The West Chester University student and Lower Makefield native’s performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” is still among the top songs sold on iTunes and his cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” is still racking up hits on YouTube.
Schuler, the son of two minsters, held a hometown concert at Pennsbury High School recently and a swarm of excited fans turned out.

Schuler made show history for the quickest time that all four judges hit their buttons to vote him on in September. A hit of the button means they wanted Schuler on their team during his cover of Young the Giant’s 2011 hit single “Cough Syrup.”
