Falling trees along I-295 were to blame for two separate crashes during a humid, stormy afternoon last week.

Rain and gusty winds swept through the area around the time the trees came down on the highway in Middletown Township, according to weather data.
The first crash happened at 3:24 p.m. last Thursday on westbound I-295 near the Trenton Road overpass.
The Pennsylvania State Police reported that a tree fell directly onto the highway and struck a 2020 Tesla.

The impact of the tree caused moderate damage, including to the windshield.
The driver was able to drive the vehicle away from the scene and avoided injury, state police said.

Just 10 minutes later, a second tree fell into the roadway in the same vicinity and crashed into the windshield of a 2014 Nissan Maxima.
The driver of the Nissan, a 52-year-old woman from Philadelphia, sustained a minor injury, state police said.
The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad transported the woman to Jefferson Bucks Hospital for treatment, state police said.
Unlike the Tesla, the Nissan had to be towed from the highway after the crash.
