A man wanted on a warrant ran across the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bristol Township last week in attempt to flee from police.

Sheriff deputies arrived to the 1100 block of Terry Street to take Frederick Dixon, 25,  into custody last Thursday afternoon. They knocked and then spoke to a woman with a baby. The woman, according to the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department, would not let two deputies in the house and said the 25-year-old was not there.

As a deputy spoke with the woman through a rear window, Dixon jumped out another window and began to run, according to court papers.

One of the county lawmen yelled for Dixon to stop; he kept running. A deputy deployed his taser but the probes did not attach to Dixon’s skin, authorities said.

Dixon then ran through the woods and made it onto the busy Turnpike. A deputy wrote in court papers that a car on the highway had to swerve to avoid Dixon.

Dixon made it to the other side of the Turnpike and Bristol Township police were able to apprehend him, according to court documents.

Documents filed by the common pleas court show Dixon skipped his trial on charges related to a 2011 traffic accident that caused injuries in Bristol Township.

Dixon was charged on Friday with resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was sent to county jail on 10 percent of $10,000 by District Judge Joanne Kline.
