The 36-year-old man police allege was the planned getaway driver for the Drug Store Bandit, who arrested last week, was taken into custody and charged Thursday morning.

Adam Cain of Falls Township is charged with conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before District Judge Jan Vislosky and is currently out free on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Cain was first pulled over after police responding to an armed robbery alleged to be perpetrated by “Drug Store Bandit” Roland “Woody” Woodward IV, 36, saw him drive off at a “high rate of speed” from the area behind the Country Farms Market on Makefield Road last Wednesday, authorities said.

When the officer spoke to Cain, he reported in court paperwork that Cain said he was in the area to buy pizza and was waiting for a text message from his girlfriend when he decided to leave. For the time that was enough, police said, and Cain was free to go on his way.

Cain began cooperating with police at some point and they used text messages on his phone to find Woodward a short distance away, according to court papers. Woodward tired to flee when he spotted the cops, but was caught and handcuffed.

Cain told police Woodward, a friend since they were both 14, asked him to wait behind the store while he went in the Country Farms to “get some money.” Woodward was apparently spooked after cops arrived seconds after the robbery and ran instead of using his getaway driver.

It is unclear if Cain is suspected of being involved in any other of Woodward’s alleged robberies.
