Taylor is Langhorne’s Next Mayor

Joseph Taylor sounded thrilled when reached by phone Tuesday night after unofficial election results showed him the winner of the race for Langhorne Borough mayor.

“I’m happy with the election,” he said.

According to unofficial election results from the county, Taylor beat John Krimmel by holding 56.8 percent of the popular vote.

Taylor will replace longtime borough mayor Chris Blaydon, 79, who decided not to run for re-election. Taylor is registered a Republican.

“Mayor Blaydon has been there for about 20 years, and I want to keep him involved,” Taylor said. He added that he sat down, had a drink and talked with Blaydon about governing the borough of roughly 1,600 people.

Taylor, 62, is deputy chief at the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company and previously served as chief.

When he takes office in the new year, Taylor said he plans to work to schedule the police department so the part-time force is more available to residents. He also told LevittownNow.com he plans to work with the school district to keep Oliver Heckman Elementary School right across the border with Middletown open.

Taylor and Krimmel, a Democrat, were both outside the library in Langhorne Tuesday evening talking to potential voters.
