Historic Bristol Day took on the form of ย future hopes and plans Saturday at Mill Street and Old Route 13.
At the gateway to Bristol’s commercial district, the community, local, state and federal officials gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Mill Street Crossing Gateway project.

With the ย Bristol Bracken Cavaliers drumming and the Bristol Borough High School Cheerleaders showing off their rhythmic skills at the ย “historic” intersection where the tri-crossing of years of ago converged with plans in present day, pride was seen in the expressions of Bristol residents.
Bristol Borough Council President Ralphย DiGuiseppe called it a great day Bristol, as he spoke from under the archway that says “Welcome Friend.” DiGuiseppeย thanked ย Felipe Berrocal of Felipeโs Landscaping andย R&S Concreteย ย for getting the site prepared quicklyย for Saturday’s ceremony.

“This is yet another public improvement for a great town. This town is really on fire in terms of great improvements and expanding commerce.,ย adding that ย “Bristol Borough understands the history of where it came from and ย the responsibility of that legacy moving forward this is a town that has a great future in front of it,”ย Congressman Mike Fitzpatrickย said.

Work to finish the project is financed by local business owners will begin Monday, Bill Pezza chairman of the Bristol Borough Economic Development Committee said, with the roof next to be constructed.
“I think there is a bounce in the step of shop owners that wasn’t here a year ago…so we’re working hard,” he said.

Anytime a community gets together and celebrates pride, pride in businesses and each other I think its a good idea. Mill Street is vitally important to not only Bristol but all of Bucks County. We need to places like Mill Street to thrive. ย State Rep. John Galloway (D-Bucks) said.
A PCC trolley or a Pullman train car,ย is plannedย to serve as a visitors centerย in addition toย a gift shop ย with ย plans to apply grants to pay for those additions, officials said.
With the Bristol docks set to open in spring or summer 2014 and now theย Mill Street Crossing Gateway project, revitalization is the buzzword for a borough filled with hopeful plans.
