Middletown swore in three new police officers at Monday night’s Board of Supervisors meeting.

  • Officer Timothy McNulty, 25, of Lansdale: Completed his ACT 120 training at Montgomery County Communuty College’s Muncipal Police Academy. He is a graduate of Lansdale Catholic and has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University.
  • Officer Timothy Filoon, 32, of Levittown: The life-long Levittown resident comes to Middletown from the Bristol Township Police Department, where he worked patrol since 2007. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Thomas Edison State College of New Jersey.
  • Officer Brian Hyams, 33, of Philadelphia: The Archbishop Wood High School graduate is currently working to obtain his criminal justice degree. Prior to joining Middletown police, he served as a part-time patrolman in New Hope Borough and also as a paramedic with Bensalem EMS since 2005.

Middletown has about 50 sworn law enforcement personnel and is among the busiest departments in the county.

Through arbitration, the township and its officers reached a new contract agreement in May. The contract is set to expire in 2015.

Residents and wives of police officers spoke out in April when the township announced plans to station an patrol officer full-time at Sesame Place when the park was open. The park and township came to an agreement.

In June, Middletown police was added Officer Kyle Gracie to their ranks.
