
Traffic at the intersection ofย Route 13 and Veterans Highway (Route 413) came to a standstill Friday morning as aย tractor-trailer overturned attempting to making a left hand turn onto Route 13 at around 9 a.m., ย witnesses said.
The trailer, owned by Xtra Lease which has multiple locations throughout Pennsylvania, was ย carrying about 40,000 pounds of unfastened bundled newspapers, according to a source with knowledge of the accident.

Traffic in all directions lurched towards destinations as tow service employees worked hurriedly to clear the wreckage left in the ย 18 wheeler’s wake.
Bristol Township Fire Police directed traffic as police investigated the accident and Rob’s Towing Service, emptied, raised, and cleared the massive truck laying on its side from the roadway. Bundled newspapers were unloaded and Route 13 was cleared by a crew of employees.

Township police didn’t comment about the cause of the accident, but did say at 1 p.m. the driver was not taken into custody.

Witnesses said the truck, making a left from Veterans Ave onto Rt. 13 took the turn “too wide” ย and crushedย a PennDOT sign. The truckd skided on its side on the dirt alongside the road prior to overturning.
No injuries were reported.

The clean up and raising of the truck upright is going to cost the company “thousands” a transportation source said.
