After years of acting as Tullytown Borough’s police chief, Danny Doyle was finally offered the position a midst a cheering and packed council meeting Tuesday night.
Briefly after holding a strong and solemn moment of silence for the recent passing of former Tullytown Borough Mayor Robert Shellenberger, the 6 council members in attendance began to announce what has been years in the making.

Numerous residents and even non-residents of Tullytown rose to speak at the podium on behalf of Doyle- speaking of his community geared personality and his work ethic. In a vote, all council members unanimously voted for his hire.
Doyle who has been a member of the police department since 1997 and a sergeant for the department since 2007, had recently taken on duties of the former police chief when he was unable to fulfill his responsibilities.

The vote Tuesday night affirmed Doyle’s permanent position as Chief of Police and enacted his salary at just over $90,000 annually.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank the council for their vote this evening,” said Doyle with a glimmering smile. “I will serve you well.”

To which Council President Adams said, “From what I can tell, the residents agree with us.”
Doyle turned to face the audience and waved, thanking the community for their generous and consistent support. About a dozen members of the Tullytown Police Department were also in attendance.
